RBA South is entering its 8th year of helping produce some of the best baseball players in the area.   This comprehensive program is designed to teach the student the fundamentals in all major areas of the game.

If you are looking for a "spring training" to prepare you for your upcoming season, then this is the program for you.   Instruction, drill work, and live situation will be the focus of this program. .

Winter Camp

This program ends in mid-February, right before most high school, little league, and club tryouts.

Classes will be limited to ensure a 4:1 player to coach ratio. We believe that we have assembled the best coaches in the area for our winter program. Our coaches have all played high school and college baseball, and have over 25 years of professional playing experience.   More about our coaching staff....

Winter Program Objectives

  • Hitting
Understanding how to hit to all fields, hit off-speed pitches, and manage your strike zone. Hitters will progressively work towards situational hitting using a combination of pitching machines and live throwing. Radar gun and video tape will be used periodically to monitor bat speed and proper hitting fundamentals.

  • Pitching/Throwing
Developing proper throwing mechanics with the goal of improving velocity, control, movement, and effectiveness. Pitchers will progressively work towards developing multiple pitches, working from the wind-up and stretch, holding runners on & pick offs. Radar gun and video tape will be used periodically to monitor velocity and proper pitching mechanics.

  • Fielding
Developing the ability to use footwork to improve their arm strength, field routine plays, charge plays, backhands, forehands, force outs, tag plays, and double plays. Fielders will progressively work towards fielding balls off the bat to stimulate game situations.

  • Catching
Developing the ability to receive pitches in all situations, giving signals, throwing to all bases, blocking balls, fielding bunts, blocking home plate, and catching pop ups. Catchers will progressively work towards doing all the above off of pitching machines and live pitching to simulate game situations.

The RBA South Summer Camps are back!!

Richmond Baseball Academy South is entering its 8th year of summer camps on the Southside. Our camps have a balance of learning the fundamentals of baseball and the fun of just playing the game. Our 2007 summer camp season was our most successful on record as we saw over 265 children attend one of our 4 day camps. This camp is run by RBA South directors Ron Maurer and Rich Graham, with help from some of the areas finest high school and college players who share their experiences with the game.

With the concentration being on drills and techniques, the camp emphasizes most aspects of the game including hitting, fielding, and throwing fundamentals as well as baserunning and even sliding! Games will be played after the mid-morning break to allow for game time instruction. The camp is intended to help build a foundation and improve the confidence of each player.

Camp is open to boys and girls ages 5 through 12. Campers will be grouped according to age to allow them to progess at a comfortable pace. If a camper shows that his or her skill level will safely allow him to be grouped with older campers, we will take this into consideration.
